About
Katie Tu is a Research Assistant on the Peterborough Adolescent and Young Adult Development Study (PADS+).
She graduated from City University of Hong Kong with a BSocSc (Hons) in Criminology and went on to complete an MPhil in Criminological Research at University of Cambridge. She is now at the final stage of her PhD at the Institute of Criminology, where her doctoral research involves a large-scale study focusing on juvenile crime. Drawing on Situational Action Theory, her work seeks to understand juvenile crime involvement in Hong Kong and examine how young people's morality is shaped by moral education they received from different key institutions.
Katie has a strong background in collaborating with schools, practitioners and social workers on juvenile studies, as well as developing risk assessment tools, prevention and intervention programmes, and conducting programme evaluations. Her work focuses on both the general juvenile population and young people involved in delinquency and crime. Katie’s research interests primarily lie in juvenile delinquency and crime, but her broader interests include restorative justice, moral development, prevention and intervention programmes and different quantitative research methods.
